Thankful Thoughts

November 27, 2008 Uncategorized 1

I woke early, running through lists of all the things I need to do today. In our home Thanksgiving is a day of feasting and being together. We make no other plans beyond praying, eating, watching the parade and movies. We sometimes have guests in family or friends, but this year it’s just the five of us.

I am thankful for many things this year:

My faith- I’ve been challenged to immerse myself more in my faith and in searching the word for answers to life’s daily challenges.

My marriage- nearly 19 years married to Kevin have given me such joy in life. Who else makes my coffee, nudges me out of bed and hands me a fresh cup daily? Who else would tolerate and love me when I’m moody? Who never says anything about my weight? He is my bestfriend, my confidant, my lover………….he is the best.

My children- For all that they frustrate me, they are wonderful. They give me joy and surprises daily. They are bright and independant and strong. In my daughters I see so much of what I wasn’t as a teen, and I’m proud. In Nicholas I see this inquisitive, quirky boy, he is so much like his dad, everyone likes him. He is a gabby social little thing…ha ha.

My parents- As I’ve posted on my blog, they have had a myriad of health problems this year, and yet they are well and safe. I treasure every day I can talk to them and celebrate the life they’ve had. Today is also their 64th Wedding Aniversary, what a testitment to love and understanding.

Friends- All of them, near and far, real and cyber. I have my oldest and dearest friend that still lives near my childhood home, and we email and try to keep in touch. I have friends here in my town that keep me grounded and sane………….and sometimes they let me get a little insane. I have cyber friends that expand my mind either in blogging or message boards…………I love you all, and I am happy to have you in my life.

So much more- For my husband’s good job and income, for his good sense in spending, for our safe home, for good food, for sisters and brothers, for new light over my desk(ha ha) for books and more books to read, for LIFE.
