Adrienne

April 16, 2009 Adrienne 10

I am a proud mom today. You know how I usually lament over the messy room and the constant chaufering I am always doing because of my teen daughters? Well today I can just relax(mostly) and bask in the glory that my daughter has it much more together than I did at 15.
Adrienne is on her way to Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge PA. Adrienne is a member of her school’s Anchor Club, a service club. She submitted an essay about Freedom and won this opportunity to attend a workshop entitled American Leaders Youth Summit. How cool is that?

Her plane takes off in 45 minutes flying her into
Philadelphia. On Sunday she will get a tour of Philly, and she is hoping the opportunity to buy a famous cheese steak sandwich….yes, she’s smart and hungry most of the time!
Most of her time will be spent on this campus adjacent to Valley Forge National Park.
She is excited and anxious to participate and do the right thing! She’ll meet students from all over the country and I hope experience a bit of freedom herself. My baby is growing up! Ok, it’s only four days, and she’ll be home Sunday night, but it’s still very cool.

VERY COOL is right! What a great experience for her. Isn’t it amazing how together our kids are? I could barely pour piss out of a boot when I was their age – or so I remember.
My nephew goes to St. Joseph’s in Philly, and her loves those steak sandwiches.

Wow! That’s an outstanding opportunity! And you know what? It may be only a 4 day trip, but she will return home changed – a bit more mature and a bit wiser. You’ve every right to be mega proud!
