Saturday……….what a lovely day!

May 2, 2009 Saturday 7

I love weekends, many times we are busy with sports or commitments, but today is one of those that we are fairly open and it gives us time to get some things done, and spend time together.
We began our morning making pancakes and sausage and talking, Caitie spent the night at a friends, so the four of us were talking about how Nick was singing a song last, half the lyrics wrong, and we laughed. Kevin and I remember when the girls were young, about the age in this picture and they loved Disney movies and especially “The Lion King” they would sing and dance around. They would sing “Hakuna Matata” and sing, “it’s our problem- free hilosophy”……umm
girls I think that would be philosophy, but they totally were belting it out…….and didn’t care!! They were 3……and neither word made sense anyway….gotta love it. I was almost in tears this morning laughing and remembering it.

On to the business at hand……I need to grocery shop. Do you love or hate this task? I used to love it. I do love to cook, and try new foods………I’m going to try some of Brittany’s recipes this week……her blog makes me salivate……..take a look. I’ve made a list…….now I just have to get there.

Kevin is planning on moving and edging and trimming……it’s a guy thing, at least it is here, I detest yard work.

And then we have a flag football game today too!
Plans are changing as I type, now Adrienne is going to the LL fields to try to sell raffle tickets for a sporting goods store. She is so hesitant to go, so her Dad is going with her.

Thanks to Terra, she helped me get my siggy at the bottom. I love bloggy friends with tech skills! She has two blogs here and here, go check her out if you have time, she is the reading queen, and she has a Kindle……..just a little book reading envy there….ha ha!

I hope you enjoy your day!

I love carefree, errand free Saturdays as well. As for grocery shopping, I don’t mind the actual shopping, it’s the lugging it in the house and putting it away that I don’t like.

Anita, I don’t know why but I loved this post and it wasn’t the props at the end either. Just reading about your family cohesiveness is wonderful! (did I spell that right? Anyway – I hate grocery shopping too. i started a new system back in august that really cuts down on my shopping headaches. I posted about it at the request of several people in December I think…But anyway – I do a bit of stockpiling when items are on sale – I have a meal plan that runs me 8 weeks at a time with some flexability in it for “plans are changing” and I now spend less than $60 a week on average at the Grocery Store – It has taken some time, some hard work but it has really paid off and I love it!

I am rambling…but for example when Ragu went on sale for $1.00 each in Jan I bought 12…Now each time it goes on sales for $1 I only need to buy 2 to 3 to keep up my stash and I built that stash over the last 8 months so now I only shop the sales flyer at the store PLUS the fresh stuff that you just have to have. I don’t hate shopping so much anymore! Now it is a CHALLENGE instead of a headache!

I NEED a siggy too…one day, I just don’t know how to do it either ;).

I enjoy grocery shopping…but only when the boys are NOT with me. If they are, then I despise it!

I really really enjoy couponing, and getting free stuff. My adrenaline rushes when I’m doing that!

I usually dread going grocery shopping, but once I get there I actually kinda have fun — especially on weekends like this one when there are triple coupons! YIPPEE!

Loved the cute little picture and The Lion King story. So cute!

    Hi Anita,
That sounds like a great way to start a Saturday! I don’t go grocery shopping…haven’t done food shopping except for an odd thing here or there since, well, ever. I married two men who both loved to do it. I mean, would you argue with that??? 🙂

My girls were the same with the Lion King, and most other Disney classics. Ahhh, thanks for the memories!

Hope you got all the junk done you needed to do.

The grocery shopping thing happens way too often. I try to plan ahead but when I do that something comes up and we go out to dinner or my husband isn’t home for dinner. Then some of that food goes bad. Thank goodness the grocery store is only a couple blocks away.
I found your blog by reading comments on Tales from the Nightstand and I have to agree, its nice having a tech friend, she challenges me to try new things.
