Movie Reviews Transfomers 2 and some rentals

New in Town features Renee Zellweger and Harry Connnick Jr. She is the high paid company Exec sent to a small town in Minnesota to downsize a manufacturing plant. She comes in and is not prepared at all for small town life or folks. The northern accents reminded me of Fargo, very funny. Naturally she runs into all kinds of opposition from everyone including the Union Rep, Harry. They are the two best looking people in the movie, so its clear the attraction!
I remember the advertisements for this movie, it looked cute, but didn’t do too well in the theaters.
It was cute, a date movie, chick flick kind of feel, not that there is anything wrong with that. I teared up at the end, you know sweet ending and all of that, but heck I cry at Hallmark commercials, so I’m not a good judge.
I’m rating this a 3 out of 5 stars, not a bad movie.
I read all the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella, and while I was looking forward to this film adaptation of “Confessions of a Shopaholic” I was prepared that it would be different, but I’m happy to say it was quite cute. There were big changes, like where the movie was set, NY vs London, but Rebecca Bloomwood is still funny and amazingly drawn to clothing and and well everything that she can spend money on…….it completely cracks me up.
I watched it with the kids, it’s another chick flick. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars.
Kevin and Nick went to see Transformers-Revenge of the Fallen this past week. This is their review:
It was action packed right from the start. It’s a 2 hour 40 minute movie, but it went by fast, it kept Nick and Kevin’s attention. Kevin said the language was colorful, and there was some sexual innuendo. Nick enjoyed some of the new transformers, there are twin cars/robots, that were a little street wise for Kevin, Nick said they were more “gangsta”. The main character is starting college in the beginning, but he only attends 2 days.
I didn’t get a lot of details from the men…..sorry.
Their rating is 4 out of 5 stars, and they say it’s a “man movie”

    Hi Anita!
I miss movies. I have a one year old baby, so movies are trumped by laundry, playing with ridiculously loud baby toys, and constant reading of board books. It’s not a bad thing, but I’ll have to live through osmossis for a while, I suppose.

Books are my passion. I’ll head over to your other site to check out what you’re reading.

Thanks for stopping by de-comp! 🙂

I’m sure I’ll be renting the first two one of these upcoming Saturdays. You’re a regular Roger Ebert! You know, I can’t think of a well known female critic! Why is that?!

I love Harry, Jr. Love love love him. And I’m not a big band type music person, but I actually got his Christmas cd, lol. Just love him! And I think he’s a great actor too! Combined with Renee, it’s gotta be a good one.

I am DYING to see Transformers. Loved the first one, although I agree, it more than likely is a “man” movie. Although I’d love to just go, movie going is a rare thing for me at this time (read: three kids under 4), but those look like great rentals.
