Oh my gosh it has a name

February 3, 2010 Uncategorized 12

Remember my blog post about when people post odd dramatic things on FB?  Well the Urban Dictionary has defined it.  I’m clearly ahead of my time!!!

February 3, 2010 Urban Word of the Day
An intentionally vague Facebook status update, that prompts friends to ask what’s going on, or is possibly a cry for help.
Mary is: “wondering if it is all worth it”
Mark is: “thinking that was a bad idea”

Example:
“Have you talked to Mark? He’s vaguebooking again. I wonder if he’s back with Mary…”

Opposite:

Tammy is: “in line at the grocery store”

Seems to be a trend. I’ve done it myself. Sometimes I post some universal sentiment like “ok, fine, whatever”. But it IS annoying isn’t it???

Drives me nuts too, but sometimes you just want to put that feeling out somewhere in the world. I never do it to prompt questions, but I do answer questions asked of me if I have been vague. What bugs me is when others don’t share after doing that themselves, or remain vague. But, to each their own I guess …

You are a trendsetter! I love this word. And it is one reason I don’t like FB all that much. Too much drama.

It’s a good word – and I have a lot of FB friends I could nail with it. As soon as I get out of line at the grocery store. πŸ™‚

Hey, I just learned the term “vaguebooking” like 2 days ago! πŸ™‚ Were you also invited by a Facebook friend to put your first name in the search on urbandictionary.com? That was fun. πŸ™‚

And I hate vaguebooking. It makes the person seem like they’re just dying for attention from others–annoying!
