Friday Five

April 9, 2010 friday five 12

This is week two for my kids on Spring break.  Last week was the girls, this week was Nick.  While I’ve loved the slower pace and sleeping in, I think I’m ready to have my routine back.   Good things have been happening, and I need to share!
1.Last Friday we found Caitie’s prom dress.  This May will be her first prom, and she is so very excited.  We found a beautiful dress at a specialty prom store.  You know I’ll be posting pictures after the big event.
2.Nick has had a wonderful week of going to the beach, skate parks, and friends homes.  He has done something every single day…………and happily most at low cost.  He is such an easy to please child.  I love that about him!!
3.Only 6 more weeks of school for the girls, and while they both have a major research paper for English, things are going very well this year!
4. My friend Beth has been encouraging others to join her in doing Random Act of Kindness as part of her positive attitude in turning 50 next month.  I’ve had fun doing small things…………it feels good inside and out. Check out her blog if you want to join in or just see what she is doing.
5. And I need to add the thing I am most thankful for is…………..Feeling Good!!  I have shared I’ve been suffering with some depression and anxiety, and I tried one medicine and it didn’t really help, but last month my Dr. changed my RX and I’m now beginning to feel much better, we’ve decided to increase the dosage just a bit but I can really feel less anxious and more like myself.  I had begun to feel like I would never feel good again…………but I’m working on it, and I feel better!!! Yay!
Wishing you all a Thankful and wonderful Friday………and heck a great weekend too!   We are fairly slow this weekend, we have to search for some gold shoes to make that prom ensemble complete, and Adrienne has softball practice…………..but we should be able to relax!

Glad to hear that you’re feeling well and that you’re stating to feel like your old self again. Being a nurse, I can attest to the fact that meds work. It sometimes just takes awhile to find the right one.

I always loved prom time for my kids. Be sure and take lots of pictures!

Sooooo happy you’re feeling better! Too many people accept feeling depressed or anxious or blue as something they have to live with and it’s just not so.

The rest of your Friday 5 is so chipper! I’m excited for Caitie and her upcoming prom!!

So glad you are feeling more like your old self! YAY! Can’t wait to see Caitie’s prom dress (and shoes). Good luck finding just the right pair.

Was responding to your comment from my SITS day and had to check out your craziness of twin teen girls.

    I love your blog design.

Do your kids always have different spring breaks? Are they in the same district? Is tomorrow back to school for your son? That is always a tough transition for my kids.

Glad to hear your depression and anxiety is getting better!–it can be really tough, I know.

I went through a period of major anxiety and depression (including several daily panic attacks), several years ago…so I feel your pain. Luckily, I had therapy and read some very life-changing books, too. (I highly recommend “From Panic to Power” by Lucinda Basset, if you’ve never read it.)

Also, I think I will check out that Random Act of Kindness site/blog. I would like to try something like that, thanks for the suggestion. 🙂

So happy to hear that a prom dress has been found, that spring break was a success, and that happy days are ahead!!!! May many blessings be yours!!!! Love, Denise
