Movie Time

I honestly have not seen that many movies in the last few months, in theaters or rentals.  I’m going to try a couple of quick reviews and maybe let you know what I’d like to see.
Loud adventure fantasy movies do not motivate me, so I’ll be skipping Iron Man 2, and Prince of Persia.  I wait for Twilight movies on rental because I’m sorry TF, the stories and films are just not that deep or well done.
I do want to see Sex in the City 2, go ahead, scold me for pure unadulterated fluff love.  I live vicariously through Carrie, honestly I’d almost give my right arm for that closet!!  I’d also like to see the new Toy Story 3 movie this summer, I love Buzz and Woody!
Ok, so here’s what little I have seen.

Kevin and I saw Letters to Juliet last week, and honestly I knew very little about a place in Verona Italy where people leave letters at Juliet’s house about their love lives.  What a beautiful history.  The movie was sweet, though predictable in some ways.  I still liked it, but I like sappy love stories.  My rating a 3 out of 5 stars.

We saw this movie just after or before Valentine’s Day, it’s available on DVD now.  Cute movie about love, love of a child, love of family, long time love, new love, false love, it’s got it all in a series of vignettes and lives that cross and mingle.  I enjoyed it and thought it was so sweet.  My rating, a 4 out of 5.
We rented some movies too, and I always try to see Oscar nominated films, but this was by far my favorite.

First off, looking at George Clooney is just a pleasure, I love a man who ages with such grace.  He is so good at that aloof man/lover role.  I was iffy about this film, so often good reviews on quirky movies leave me unhappy, but this one had good stuff.  I really liked it.  My rating, a 4 out of 5.

Sadly that is all the good movies I’ve seen.  I keep renting movies via Netflix  but I guess other things have been in the way.

What has your favorite movie of Spring been?  What do you plan on seeing this summer?

My mom just brought me two movies today, Dear John and it’s complicated…I want to see both. I want to watch them now. But I have been DVD Player challenges since the recent changes around here and well…since all but one of them are no longer with us and the one that is is hooked up in the basement and I am NOT all about sitting in the basement by myself…I guess the movies will have to wait.

I have seen Dear John and the Last Song… ummm we are see Sex in the City 2 tonight or tomorrow… we saw Babies on Mother’s Day…cute… and I think that is about it… My girls like watching movie over and over…not I! Oh I am going to see Toy Story 3 for sure and there have been a couple more on my radar but I can’t remember what they are!

My teens are watching Dear John downstairs as we speak. That first movie never appealed to me.

I have Capitalism:A Love Story here from Netflix right now. Not quite a romance no, is it?

  4. My name is PJ.

I’ve been streaming stuff via Netflix, mostly TV shows that I’ve never watched.

My favorite new super hero is Jack Bauer from 24!

Thank goodness for Netflix and Pay per View…otherwise we’d never see a movie. Come to think of it, I just might see if my hubby will go with me to see Sex and the City tomorrow afternoon! Thanks for a good idea.

I saw Up in the Air when it was in theaters and enjoyed it. I haven’t seen any of the other movies you’ve mentioned. I did see Robin Hood a couple of weekends ago with my husband. I liked it more than he did. The ending was very lame though and almost ruined the whole rest of the movie for me. But spending two hours looking at Russell Crowe is not a bad way to spend your time.

Like you, I have a long list of movies in my Netflix queue and never seem to get to them. Maybe now that all my favorite TV shows are in reruns, I will be able to catch up a bit. And I’m planning on seeing Sex in the City 2 also. Though I can already tell it’s going to be disappointing. I enjoyed the TV show and the first movie too much not to see this one as well.

I want to see the new Sex & The City movie, too–I thought the first one was really funny. I laughed, I cried, and I’m planning on seeing the second one next weekend…I’m going with a bunch of friends…fun! 🙂

But other than that, I haven’t really seen any good movies lately. But I would like to see Up In the Air–looks good. 🙂

I can’t wait to see SITC! Hopefully I can get the hubs to take me to see it this weekend.

It has been a long time since I have seen a new movie, but I just watch Who Framed Roger Rabbit last night for the first time in 20 years! I remember loving it when I was little but now I just realized how silly it is!

Sad to say I have not seen any of these… my girls however did see Letters to Juliet and they loved it! I would love to see SITC but i will probabaly wait till it is out on DVD.

I saw Letters to Juliet, too, and thought it was very sweet. The only funny parts, though, came from the actor who played Charlie – he was a sarcastic hoot. I also just watched A Thing Called Love last night. It has River Phoenix, Sandra Bullock, and Dermot Mulroney in it. I had read mixed reviews about the film, but since it had River and Sandra in it I was going to take my chances. Especially since it was only five bucks at Walmart. It was a great movie, had me laughing the whole time. River Phoenix gave a realistic and amazing performance. I really hate that he’s gone. He would’ve been so great these days.

You and the others have inspired me to see a movie soon! Maybe the husband and I will do a date night. 🙂
