Summer Games

June 22, 2010 Uncategorized 7

Summer means softball around here.  Not that any season is really free of softball to a player and team like Adrienne’s.  She has been with this team for 2 years and she loves the girls and coaches.  They have steadily been improving and working hard to be recognized by college coaches and recruiters.  Last summer I could see the diligent work paying off, coaches seeking our team out to watch, and then this spring our 2 graduating seniors receiving college scholarships to play.
So here we are this summer, our sights set on winning a berth to the ASA National tournament.  Only 6 invites are earned in FL, and about 120 teams nationwide will be there.

These happy faces are after winning the FL ASA state championship two weekends ago and knowing they are heading to TX in August!

Here they are with 4 proud coaches.

And my personal favorite, holding their earned hardware high!!  Adrienne is in the middle on the right.
We still have a busy schedule from now until August, and yes I’m thrilled because I’ll be in TX, and some of my family will be coming to College Station, home of Texas A&M University, to see Adrienne and her team play.  We’ll probably go out a few days early and spend some time with my parents.
I am so proud of Adrienne, and all her team.

I would be a proud mama too! I’m glad you get to go to Tx and visit family. Is that where you are from? We have family in Houston, East Tx (longview, Whiteoak) and soon to be Austin)

Whoo Hoo! Yeah, Adrienne. Congrats on her big win. I’m so happy for you that you will have a chance to go to TX this summer and see your parents. Will Caite still be there? And that’s not a bad record that both seniors on the team got scholarships! I’ve got my fingers crossed for Adrienne for next year.

Congratulations! Texas in August–I’m thinking a cooler full of water will be nearby! We just finished our 3rd season of baseball and 2 months at a time is all I can take but I love it when the kids really love it. Makes it fun:)

I played softball when I was in elementary school, but I quit to dance. I would love to play with a church league now, though, something that would be competitive but mostly for fun.

Congrats to them!!! How thrilling! I can imagine how proud and excited they are. Years ago when I was in 8th grade three other girls and I set a national record at that time for the 440 relay in track at the junior high level. I remember feeling like the top of the world! My aching joints at 56 tell me a lot of water’s passed under the bridge in the past 42 years, ha!
