Varisty Soccer Senior Night

January 27, 2011 Uncategorized 7

My daughter Caitie has been a 4 year varsity soccer player, not just that, she has been the starting goalkeeper for all 4 years, hands down, rocks in the net!!  Seems like not so long ago when her HS coach was worried how a then 14 year old girl would be able to handle older players, and the level of play at HS.  He didn’t know she was playing at the highest level of competitive soccer, State Cup level, and traveling all over the US for games and competition.  He was happily surprised and she’s been his wall back there for all four years.
Our HS team is average, usually posting better than a 50/50 win/loss record and getting through the first round of districts not looking too foolish.  We’ve had great players and average players but this year, something clicked, and the girls have done a fabulous job.  We finished with the second best record and we also finished second after District playoffs and that gets us to the first round(quarterfinals) of  Regional play.  The school’s first time in 6 years!!  Really exciting times.  The next big game is Thursday night.
So to get back on topic, a couple of weeks ago we had our last home game of the regular season, and the seniors were honored.  They had to write up their accomplishments in HS, their favorite memory, a legacy of what they would leave, and it was a great night!  I was so proud I didn’t cry, but now when I think back on it, I’m not sure why I felt proud and yet a bit numb.  Here are a few pictures.
