Book Review: The One That I Want

November 16, 2011 book review 2

Tilly Farmer is living the life she dreamed of.  Married to her high school sweetheart, working as a high school counselor in her hometown that she loves.  It sounds idyllic and yet, is it really that perfect?  Tilly dreams of having a child with her husband Tyler to complete her happy family.  Things appear to be going her way, and then she decides to visit a psychic at a local fair.  This psychic is actually a girl she went to high school with, and this person gives her the gift of “clarity”.  Tilly wonders what it means.
Suddenly her dreams take a nightmarish turn, as she begins to see things before they happen.  Her now sober father returns to drinking.  Her complacent hubby is not so happy and has plans to move them away…and more.
Tilly’s sisters and her best friend play major roles in her discovery, what has really been happening in her family while she was building her pretty little life?
I enjoyed this audio recording of this book.  I have extra time in the car with working now, and I love listening to audio books.  This story moved along so well, and yet had just the right amount of twists and turns to keep it interesting and not predictable.  My feelings for Tilly went from liking her, to wanting to slap her for being naive, and then back to really wanting her to be happy.
This is my first read from Allison Winn Scotch, and I’m looking forward to many more.  She’s got a new one coming out in April 2012.
I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars, a very good read!

So no problems with the narrator? I’m going to have to look up who the narrator is…it can mean the difference in the experience for sure. I’m off to the library website!

This sounds excellent and like something I would enjoy. I am intrigued by this gift of “clarity” that Tillie gets and would love to read this one. Going to have to see if I can grab this one. Great review, Anita!
