The End of a Long Sickly Week

January 6, 2012 weekend 11

The week started out with me having a tickling in my throat on Sunday, I was bringing in the near year and trying to just will away that sore throat, but I felt it a bit while working on Sunday and then Monday I felt it too.  By Monday night, I was coughing and I was filled with this:

I did not feel good at all….I didn’t sleep well.  I spent Tuesday in bed, taking cold and sinus meds, dozing some, reading some.  These became my best friend:

Oh good lord have you tried these?  They are the Cool Touch Kleenex, I’m receiving nothing for this raving endorsement, but they are remarkable.  A tissue cool on your sore nose, cushy and soft, oh so wonderful.
Caitie left Tuesday mid morning to return to UNF, she was home for nearly a month, and I loved having her home, but it was time for her to go back.  Adrienne and Nick went shopping so I did have a quiet house.

I slept worse on Tuesday night and missed yet another day of work on Wednesday, two days out.  Does anyone really want your book seller or cashier to be hacking, sneezing, blowing her nose and sharing her germs?  I didn’t think so.  Wednesday was almost worse….I nearly ran out of the magic tissues, and sent hubby for more, plus mucinex d, also no plug, but the meds work.
I slept better Wednesday night and woke feeling human, and though I rested most of the day Thursday I felt better.

So now my weekend is open, and I’m feeling a little better.  My other daughter Adrienne leaves Sunday to go back to school.  Nick returns to school on Monday, after a too too long winter break.
After the return of all kids to school it will start to feel like life is back to some normalcy.
My winter is full of short trips to see my parents in TX.  One next weekend, one in Feb and one in March.  My dad’s recovering from a stroke and a fall, he’s in rehab, but it’s just very hard.  I need to be there more to support both my folks as he recovers.
Here’s to the Weekend….it’s got to be better!  I’m hoping you all enjoy some down time, some time to relax and recoup.

I’m all for normalcy, and was pretty happy when the kids went back to school yesterday. Too much complaining about being bored! I’m sorry you had the crud over the holidays. It seems like it was going around. I caught the flu on Christmas night but I guess thanks to the flu shot, I was feeling better after a couple of days.

I am glad you are feeling better and we LOVE mucinex and while I have a few boxes of the cool touch kleenex we haven’t opened em yet, but I LOVED the ones they made with menthol in them but they were so hard to find…I am sure I will love these!

Oh, I am so sorry that you were sick! I think I have been fighting something off for the past week or so as well, so I can understand you feeling awful. I love the sound of those tissues though, and need to keep a box of them handy for when I am feeling bad. Glad to know that you are pretty much recovered and looking forward to seeing you soon! I will remember to keep your dad in my prayers.

Colds are the worst! Hope you continue to feel better and can get back to bookselling soon. Sending good thoughts to your dad, too.

Through it all – being sick, your parents’ issues, your girls being home and now leaving – you seem to have an amazing attitude.

Take care, keep reading and writing those blogs…afterall, when do you get this much down time? Or are you trying to sleep through it? πŸ™‚

Feel better soon. And slow down! πŸ™‚

I swear by Emergen-C at that first throat tickle. I’ve been wondering about those cool Kleenex. And thought the ones with lotion were da bomb!

When it was time to go back to school after Xmas break, my Mom would always sing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”.

Glad to hear you are on the mend!!!

Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. Being sick is awful. I’ll have to sneak those tissues into the house. My husband makes us buy the cheapest tissues there are!! I’ll hide them and keep them for myself!

I cant think of anything worse than being sick with your kids…. unless everyone has diarrhea. Thats way worse.
