Out of the Loop

February 23, 2012 catching up, life 3

Hi all, it’s been a really busy week.
My trip to Texas was very good.  Happily my dad is improving and getting stronger.
I enjoyed being with my mom…she enjoys someone in the apartment with her.  She went with me to a book reading and signing for the lovely Sarah McCoy
We had a wonderful evening listening to Sarah read from her new book The Baker’s Daughter, she discussed her writing process, her character development and how she began to mold and create them, or how they revealed themselves to her.  Totally fascinating and wonderful.  Blurry iPhone pictures can be seen on my facebook page.
I went camping one night with my sister and friends, all whom have nice motor homes.  We ate, and then we did indeed drink a bit and enjoy!!  Lots of singing and having a good time.  The weather was cool, but we had a fire, and good company.
I’ve read some wonderful books, and I hope to write reviews this weekend…The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh, A Good American by Alex George, are books I just can’t wait to share with you if  you haven’t read them.
Tomorrow night is book club and we’ll be talking about This Beautiful Life  by Helen Schulman.  The topic of this book was riveting, teen girl sends erotic video to teen boy, the rest is a sad and twisted tale.  I’m excited to discuss this one, and of course enjoy dinner with the ladies in the club.
Back to work for me tomorrow.
Hoping to be back to reviewing more this weekend!!

It sounds like you had a really nice time, and got the chance to relax a bit which is really awesome! I am so excited that you loved The Language of Flowers! It was my favorite book of last year. I am also hoping to read A Good American soon. Can’t wait to see you tonight!
