Weekly Catch Up

July 29, 2012 Weekly catch up 4

Life has been very busy for us. I’m happy to say that this is a Sunday with very little on my agenda. Planning a family dinner with Nick’s girlfriend, she’s vegetarian so it’s a bit more challenging. Just two more weeks and Caitie returns to UNF. She went up this weekend to sign her lease. Two of her roommates are already there in summer school. She moved up a few clothes and bathroom things this weekend. She’s got finals this week in her 2 classes and work of course. She’s earned good money this summer, and saving it. Adrienne has 3 weeks until her move in. She’s ready to move back and start softball and school again. I’ll miss them both, but I also love seeing my girls grow and explore. I’m proud of them. I’ve finished 2 books and one audio in the past 2 weeks. It’s two months until the publication of BLACKBERRY WINTER by Sarah Jio,and I assure you it’s worth pre-ordering. The story is so beautiful,so heart breaking and yet is told so tenderly I enjoyed each page. Kevin and I flew to see my parents this past week. Three short days, but it’s challenging because they are so limited in what they can do. My dad takes a lot of naps, he tries to watch a movie or two but rarely watches much. He loves old movies and shares wonderful stories of movies when he was a child and younger man. He had just received a new Bogart and Bacall set of movies. We watched The Big Sleep. We took them out to dinner and that has challenges too. My dad’s Parkinson’s Disease slows down all his systems and makes his swallowing difficult. He is too stubborn to go to all puréed foods. We had a nice family dinner with my sister and brother too, with my folks. My second sister passed away last December so these family gatherings are precious to my mother. This morning my brother called me to say my dad fell again. This is the fifth time in less than a month. Nothing hurt, but it’s frightening. Just a typical week coing up. Work, cooking, taking Nick places, and reading when I can. I hope your week is good too!!

Once I adjusted to Vance being away, I loved it when he came home and was ready for him to leave again when it was time.

Sorry to hear about the struggles your dad is having. My father in law was diagnosed with Parkinson’s not too long ago.

It sounds like the girls are well on their way towards their second year, and that is great!

I am also sorry to hear about your dad not doing well. It can be so hard for family to provide the support that an ill member needs, especially when all we want is really for them to get better.

I like your weekly catch ups! I am glad you got out to TX….and isn’t it crazy that it is back to school time already…I am not ready. Summer went too fast

Isn’t life crazy, fun, challenging, peaceful, sad, hard, and happy all at the same time.

Best wishes to you and your family, as always. 🙂
