Good afternoon!! I hope this day finds you happy and enjoying life the way you like it. In the days when I was in retail management I always hated working weekends. When I was single all my other friends had time off, after marriage my husband had weekends off. I guess I’m just a traditionalist and weekends and especially Sunday should be for living life the way you want. That could be climbing a mountain, running, swimming, or as I prefer….slugging! Well it’s what I prefer today.
My reading week was a mixed bag. I finished only one book, the other being completed I think before last Sunday.
Looking for Me by Beth Hoffman, look for a review this week.
The Guest House by Erika Marks, this one published Tuesday June 4, it’s a good one.
Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight–reading with #bookloversunite. Drop by Tamara’s blog, Traveling With T to see the weekly discussion questions..this one is a book I’m going to love talking about.
Ocean Beach by Wendy Wax I’m not riding alone in my car much, and clearly not doing enough housework…slow going..ha ha.
I also helped to promote a new book by Beatriz Williams–A Hundred Summers, and I’m happy that Jennifer from Literate Housewife will be leading a read along in July. Maybe you’ll consider joining us.
I did one more book loving thing…I went to a launch party/book reading for a YA author in Orlando. Jenny Torres Sanchez has just launched her second book….I’m not saying much…stay tuned for more info and a give away!!
The home life has been quiet. Nick had a week of sleeping in, spending the night with friends, heading to the beach…all the summer things a fifteen year old should be filled with. I fed him, drove him some and nagged him occasionally…all good.
My girls are both in Texas. Caitie is working as an intern for a Civil Engineering firm, my niece works there and has generously helped Caitie to work 2 previous summers. She’s getting much hands on work this year..having a blast. Adrienne has been tearing down a deck and her cousin’s house and just taking care of the dogs and running. She returns next weekend to FL and then she is off to Pittsburgh for several weeks. Can I be almost 20 again? No thanks really, but her life does sound sweet.
Kevin and I went out to dinner Friday night locally. Chef Larry’s in in a small wooden house in downtown Titusville. Inside you will find just a few tables under 15, and perhaps another 6 outside. What you will find is absolutely delicious food!! Wonderful service, reasonably priced food are a treat in a small town. Cash only, and while no wine list they are happy to let you bring your own no corking fee. I’d been for lunch a couple of times, but we will be back for dinner!!
Starting tomorrow Nick has weights with the wrestling team M-Th 8-10am…it might be ugly. He hasn’t been up that early in 12 days…ugh.
Enjoy the rest of your day!!
