Monday…Catching Up!

June 24, 2013 Bermuda Onion, Beth Hoffman, book mail, book purchases, books, Crafted The Beer Store, Fiction Addiction, Greenville SC, Jill Hendrix, vacation 5

Most of last week I was on my own short vacation.  I was away on my own, driving to Greenville SC and Atlanta GA.  The focus of my trip was friends, family and books!!

First stop Greenville SC, and I was lucky enough to meet my friend Bermuda Onion.  She’s a fabulous book blogger and because her husband and son own a crafted beer store, she’s not bad at recommending beer either!  She picked me up at my hotel and we went to downtown Greenville and had dinner at a cool little Tex-Mex place.  Very good!!  We walked around just a little.

Wednesday was the big event…Book Your Lunch with Beth Hoffman, these events have been making me jealous for over a year..organized by the Indie bookstore Fiction Addiction.  Lunch was held at The Lazy Goat right on the river, and it was fabulous.  Beth spoke, answered questions, ate lunch with us…lucky me I was at her table, and she then signed books for each of those attending.  Thanks to Fiction Addiction owner Jill Hendrix for giving up her spot at the table for me.

If you haven’t yet read her newest book, Looking For Me, get it now…it’s breathtaking!

After the luncheon I stopped by the bookstore to look around and naturally buy books!! I picked up one book because I’d been meaning to read it, and Jill eagerly talked books I’d read, wanted to read, had heard of and suggested two more for me…nothing like a great bookseller to lead you to books you didn’t know about.  Here’s what I got~!!

ORDINARY GRACE –William Kent Krueger

Bonus! With a $50 purchase you are able to choose from a cart of galleys. Jill was kind enough to look at future release books and found a special treat for me!!

I also stopped by Crafted-The Beer Store, picking up some fun choices as a gift to my brother and sister in law, as I was staying with them at my next stop…Atlanta.  If you’re in the Greenville area, you must stop by, great customer service..ahem.. and selection.  What I was able to try was great…only wish I’d bought beer for myself!

While I was gone…these books arrived in the mail.

FINDING COLIN FIRTH- Mia March  from Gallery Books

THE LEMON ORCHARD-Luanne Rice a surprise from Viking/Penguin

THE ENGAGEMENTS- J. Courtney Sullivan a win from Chick Lit is NOT Dead

Now just trying to get back into the home groove, you know the glamour of laundry and chauffeuring my son around town etc!!  I’ll continue my trip recap later this week!
