It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 1-13-14

January 13, 2014 books, It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 5

Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, and any other bookish happening we want to share.

Last week I finished just one book, The Invention of Wings, by Sue Monk Kidd. Amazing book!

I’ve got two more book reviews to complete, both stellar books, by amazing authors.

I am currently reading a book that will be published January 21, and it’s brilliant and thoughtful and also horrifying as it tells the story of a black soldier returning home to Mississippi post World War II, and those who fight for justice. Reading about the racial divide commonly practiced in the South circa 1946 is frightening  The Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson is going to be a wonderful bestseller!

My audio book listening has been very slow lately, I’m listening to The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak

Up Next:

I have to say 2014 is turning into an amazing book year, the quality of writing, the stories, everything.
So now it’s your turn…what are you reading?

I am glad to hear you enjoyed The Invention of Wings. That is one I’d really like to read. The other two you mention, What She Left Behind and The Pieces We Keep sound really good as well. And the Secret of Magic! That’s one I must read. Adding it to my wish list now.
