I think I’ve made it clear how much I loved Lisa Unger‘s new psychological thriller In the Blood. Monday evening I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa and hearing her speak to a lovely audience of The Moorings Literary Society, The Moorings Yacht Club, Vero Beach.
Lisa was an easy and interesting speaker. She began with a little background on herself. Lisa is from New York, and while she knew she wanted to be a writer, on the advice of her father she also studied something so she could as he said, “get a job”. While working in publishing she spent ten years, from 19-29 writing her first book. Happily when she got an agent her first book was sold to a publisher in a two book deal. She’s been with three different publishers, but each brought her closer to where she is today. Her fifth book, Beautiful Lies was her first New York Times bestseller. Lisa has both stand alone books and books with recurring characters.
On the personal side, Lisa met her husband in Key West, a great story that had the room laughing. They were from different places and both vacationing. They sold their homes, married and moved to Florida where they still currently reside. I also met and ate dinner with Lisa’s husband and adorable eight year old daughter. What an inquisitive friendly child, she chatted and also showed off her cursive signature. She also made a butterfly mask for me!
I loved chatting with Lisa, she was open and very kind. When she offered me another copy of her book for a giveaway I was thrilled.
So just leave a comment and you could win a lovely hardcover signed copy of In the Blood. Comment before Sunday January 19, 2014 midnight. Random.org will choose a winner. Open to US residents only. Please leave an email in your comment. Good Luck!
