It’s Monday July 7! What Are You Reading?

July 7, 2014 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 9

This is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  A post where you can talk about what you’ve read, what you plan to read, or anything book related.  Click the button and join in the fun.

I finished two books last week:

Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands The Mockingbird Next Door

Reviews up very soon, I really enjoyed both of these books.

What I’m reading is more difficult.  I’ve got a book for a blog tour due next week and I’ve just barely started it.  This one is good but kind of heavy, dealing with death, conflict in Israel and marriage equality.  Click on the cover to visit Judith Frank’s website.

All I love and know

Next week author Laura Lane McNeal will be visiting Vero Beach Book Center and discussing her debut novel Dollbaby, so I’d like to get it read too.  Dollbaby And finally with my online book group The Hashtags we’re reading this, and discussing the first five short stories this Friday.

Grand Central

In audio I’m listening to Bittersweet This is a great listen, and I’m 40% done and I can’t figure out this family…and they’re summer guest, Mabel.  I also hate that name, who names their daughter Mabel in this day and age…I think it’s an interesting choice by the author.

I can’t even begin to think about what’s next…if I get through all these books July has so many other great books waiting for me.

So what are you reading??

The Mockingbird Next Door looks fascinating. I love reading about Harper Lee, so I might have to pick that one up!

Good choices! I love anything about To Kill A Mockingbird so I will definitely be picking this one up this summer. Also, I read the Chris Bohjalian one recently and want to read Dollbaby. Thanks for sharing these titles; I think we have somewhat similar taste in reading.

Dollbaby, Grand Central, and Bittersweet are all on my wish list. Since Cassandra Campbell is narrating Bittersweet, it probably belongs on my audio wish list, too! Happy reading… and listening 🙂

  4. Beth Hoffman

I’m curious about The Mockingbird Next Door, this is the first time I’ve heard of it. Happy reading!

Ha! I have to laugh at your comment about the name Mabel. I think the trend now is to name your child any odd name that comes along. I know we certainly get our fair share of strange looks at Evie and Elle (whose real names are Olivia and Elizabeth…go figure). Hope you’re enjoying all of these!

I might need to get that book about To Kill a Mockingbird for my sister, it is her favorite book, too! I think heavy books take a lot longer to read. I have been reading a collection of essays by children of Holocaust survivors and it is taking forever to get through.
