August 25, 2014 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 10

This is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  A post where you can talk about what you’ve read, what you plan to read, or anything book related.  Click the button and join in the fun.

I am so happy to be back and blogging again!!  Most of you know that I had knee replacement surgery three weeks ago and the road to recovery has been slow but steady.  One negative side effect was my inability to concentrate on reading.  The week before surgery I was busy organizing and nervous, post surgery I had a week where I mostly slept. Bit by bit I’m getting back in my routine and my passion of reading has returned.

I finally finished a book last week!!  It took me three weeks, and I hated that that it took so long, but I loved THE GOOD GIRL, my review should be up soon.  If you haven’t read this fabulous debut novel from Mary Kubica….grab it!!

The Good Girl

I have a couple of books I’m reading now, one is another debut novel , brought to us by the genius that is Amy Einhorn.   FIVE DAYS LEFT by Julie Lawson Timmer is amazing.  I’m nearly half done and it’s very compelling.  I’ve also just started THE STORY HOUR by Thrity Umrigar, I’ve adored her previous books so this one holds much promise.

Five Days Left The Story Hour

I have so many other books up after these two, not sure what I’ll pick but here are a few titles.

RIDE AROUND SHINING by Chris Leslie-Hynan

THREE STORY HOUSE by Courtney Miller Santo

Good stuff!!!

I am feeling so much better, I’m driving again, and mostly walking without a cane and feeling good.  My stamina for walking and standing is slowly building, but I know when I’ve hit my limit and I rest.  The weekend was awesome, full of reading, good food my husband prepared and naps too!!

I hope you’ve been enjoying some good books…please share what’s on your shelf or nightstand!

Thanks so much Andi. I worried I’d never read again…eeek!! I’m feeling so much better. Happy to see your little man was off to pre-school today.

I just finished The Story Hour…loved it. I am sure you will love it too.

The House We Grew Up In was also very good.

I have Madame Picasso but haven’t read it yet. I am so looking forward to read Ms. Santo’s book, Three Story House. I loved The Roots of The Olive Tree.

ENJOY all your books. Will be looking for your reviews of The Story Hour and The House We Grew Up In.

    Have a wonderful reading week.

It sounds like you are more than on the road to recovery; YAY!!! Both of my parents have had knee replacements, so I do know understand exactly how you are feeling and how distracting the surgery and the aftermath can be. I’m so glad to hear that you are up and around and driving. You’ll be walking miles again before you know it!
