The Sunday Salon: Weekend Away and More

Good afternoon all!  It’s a beautiful, sunny day here in Florida.  We left the northern beaches of Ponte Vedra this morning, now back home with other things to do.

My husband’s employer has an annual planning meeting with their board of directors.  Always in October, and usually at a nice resort.  We had a good time, too much food, but a nice getaway.  We were also able to see our daughters who attend college in nearby Jacksonville.  We took them out to dinner Thursday evening, and Caitie picked me up for breakfast Saturday morning.  She took me to a diner on the beach side, looks like nothing special but really the best food!!

I had time for some reading, I began reading Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, as I had started two non fiction books earlier in the week, and really needed something to take me away.  Honestly I spent more time being social and napping!  My routine will return and I know I’ll keep enjoying this new book.

Our son attended his Homecoming dance last night.  He wasn’t bothered that we were going to miss it.  I’m only sad I didn’t see all the kids dressed up first hand.  I’ve only seen a few of his pictures, and I’m told his date’s mom has most of the good pictures.  Here is just one from his phone.

Nick and MacieThey looked very nice!!

This week is fairly routine, volunteering at the high school, taking my son to wrestling, cooking, cleaning, reading, writing….you get the gist.

I feel like I read much less last week post Read-a-thon.  It’s all good. I deliberately accepted very few new books to review in November and December.  More time to read older titles I missed and maybe in late December get a start on 2015 books.

Have a happy week!!  Do you celebrate Halloween in a big or little way?  I really miss when our kids were little, I don’t even decorate inside now, and we don’t get many trick or treaters.  I  plan to buy a med bag of candy…and hope it’s all gone!!

What a nice trip! Your son and his date sure look nice together – so well color-coordinated!

I miss the days of taking the kids trick-or-treating, too. Dressing up is so much fun.

I used to love visiting Vance when he was in college. His enthusiasm was always infectious. I love seeing little ones dressed up on Halloween.
