The Sunday Salon1

Hello all!! It’s so nice to take a break and write these posts.  I’ll honestly admit, most are written on Saturday nights, because I’m not a morning person.  I don’t like what’s been happening to my free style sleeping schedule.  If sharing this causes you to judge me, well please don’t.  My routine is awful, I am up until 3 or 4:00 am, I’m reading or watching Netflix, a mix of both.  So then I sleep, I wake up and say goodbye to my son, and then I sleep until 10….or noon.  Ok, very often noon.  Yes, this is true.  If I lived alone I wouldn’t care, but I’m starting to feel like I’m missing something.  On days when I have to be anywhere early it’s very painful.  Suggestions for my vampire habits appreciated.

I’ve had a great reading week.  I finished two audio books and one in print.  It’s   been an amazing time for me with audio books lately.  I started listening to Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, I’ve heard many good reviews, and I can now understand why.  Look for my review soon.

My fun news was my purchase of a MacBook Air.  My old laptop was almost 5 years old, and it’s been good to me, but the screen was flashing and I fear about to go out.  I’d been considering a Mac, I love my iPhone and iPad, so this seems like a natural progression.  There is a learning curve, but I also purchased One to One which gives me a year of more personal training.  Who knows what I’ll learn!

Thanksgiving looms large!  Caitie is headed home for a couple of days, Adrienne has to work Thanksgiving evening…ah the love of retail jobs.  I’m ok with it, it happens.  It will just be the four of us, quiet day of parade watching and eating and being together.  Photos for Christmas cards have been challenging too.  The girls are on notice to take pics and the three of us here will take a picture together this week.  With graduations looming in 2015 I’m thinking this is our last year for family photo cards.  Oh the changes that are coming!!

High school wrestling begins Tuesday night.  I’m looking forward to seeing Nick competing again.  I’m not anxious for smelly gym days.

Today we are just relaxing.  The weather has been nice, cooler outside.  We plan to go to Target for a few things.  A short week ahead for school. Kevin will still work on Friday.

Have a wonderful week!

I’m just the opposite – early to bed and early to rise so I don’t have any advice for you.

Vance had to work one Thanksgiving so we went to visit him. We ended up eating at Ruby Tuesday – it wasn’t the best but we have great memories.

I wish I had some advice for you. My sleep habits are poor because I don’t go into deep sleep that often and then when I’m in light sleep I can feel my pain or my mind starts racing and I’m awake during the night or too early in the morning. I’m a retired person– I don’t have to get up extremely early– yet I’m up and out of bed by about 6:15 and then falling asleep watching tv or reading.
Congrats on your new laptop, I’m due for one when I can manage it. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I stay up too late – usually 11 or 12 – and I wake up at 6:15 most mornings for work. So I’m not the best person to ask, but you could try forcing yourself to get up a little earlier in the morning to start with, then by the time it’s night you might get tired slightly earlier? And try to slowly switch yourself to a more “normal” sleep routine that way?

I think you are right Heather, a slow but consistent change in waking time is the answer. I was up at 10:30 today, but tomorrow I need to be up about 7. It might be painful.

I go to bed early and get up early, but you sound like my son on weekends. He gets up early and eats breakfast, then goes back to bead until I kick him out. And don’t even talk to me about Xmas photos!!! Mine REFUSED to be photographed this year, so my card has separate pictures from various pictures (individual) from the past year. They drive me nuts.

I’m horrible with sleep, too, but for a while I was really stressed at work and my schedule was just off the charts bad. One thing that really helped was downloading a sleep cycle app for my phone. It helped me realize just how little sleep I was getting, kept track of days/times when I slept better, etc. Just an idea!

I was a night owl until I met my husband — now his early to bed, early to rise habits have rubbed off on me, too! And these days, with the little one in there, I’m lucky if I stay awake past 10 p.m. on any given night. Ha! Quite a departure from the old me. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed your relaxing Sunday!

I like your schedule. I am a complete night person but I am trapped in a morning person’s life as I have a two year old.

Yay, new laptop, that is fun! The boyfriend works very early in the morning now, but I think his natural schedule is a lot like yours. He’ll sleep very late then stay up very late. I’m the opposite, early to bed and (sorta) early to rise.

I’m not quite as vampirish as you are, but my husband still is. Although he goes to bed early and still sleeps until 11 if I let him. I don’t mind sleeping so late, but I don’t have young kids any more.

Yay for Macs!!! I hope you love it as much as I love mine!
