The Sunday Salon Texas Edition

The Sunday Salon2

Good Morning, I’m barely making it before noon Central time.

I’m in the Dallas area visiting my mom this beautiful cool Sunday.  It was 49 when I got up.  My mom is 87 years old, and while slowing down and plagued with vision problems she is for the most part in good health.  I feel blessed.  Now don’t get me wrong, she is still my mom and can reduce me to 15 in a few words!!  She can also irritate me, but I believe with age and knowing how precious our time together is I overlook much more!

This has been a very relaxed visit.  We’ve gone out to eat, and shopping. We’ve watched Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and talked and talked and talked.  We’ve each read our books, and in general enjoyed our time.  My sister spent two days with us, and today we are going over to my brother’s home for dinner.

My trip also allows me to visit friends who live near.  Yesterday I had lunch and shopping with Andi from Estella’s Revenge. We met on my last visit and this was just as fun.  I loved having a friend to shop with, try on clothes and in general just hang out.  We talked books, blogs, kids, family, clothes, Christmas, life!!

I bought two books at Half Price books.  One is a previous read, but I picked up the pb edition of Me Before You, by Jojo Moyes to re-read for my book club in January.  I also picked up A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick, I enjoyed his second book and have been wanting to read this one.  I was good and only bought those  Any frequent reader of my blog knows I have shelves of unread books!!

My reading has been very limited this week, but all is good.

Tomorrow afternoon I fly back to FL and into a busy two and a half weeks before Christmas.  I’ve still got shopping to do, because two of my kids can’t give sufficient gift lists!!  I’ve got to decorate, clean and be ready for some guests and the girls home for a few days.

Have a good week all!!

I’m so glad we got to hang out! I really had the best time. Today has been another busy day. I accidentally broke Greyson’s Spiderman ornament last night when I was taking the tag off (dropped it), so it was back to JCPenney this morning for a replacement which is now gracing our tree. 🙂 Safe travels on your way home!

I’m jealous of you getting to hang out with Andi, one of my favorite bloggers. Glad you got to see her while visiting your mom.

So did you start reading the books you picked up or what else did you read, even if it was limited? 🙂

Enjoy your visit with your Mom! I have Me Before You on my shelf and am hoping to read it over the holidays. I think I must have been reading your blog in my reader for a while – have you redesigned it? It looks great!

Glad you’re enjoying the time with your mom and seeing Andi again is an added bonus! I loved Me Before You and have The Reliable Wife in my tbr pile. It’s going to be a crazy busy couple of weeks between now and Christmas… good luck!

Glad you had a fun and safe trip and visit with your Mom. It’s so important to overlook the minor irritations and enjoy every moments with elderly parents. I miss mine every day 🙁 Enjoy your new books; I haven’t read them yet.
