It’s Monday January 12! What Are You Reading?

January 12, 2015 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 10

13Welcome to this fun meme that Sheila from Book Journey hosts each week.  It’s a place to share what you’ve read, what you plan to read and more.  I’m always surprised by what others are reading and inevitably add to my TBR stack, beware!

Last week I finished one bookGirl on the Train This is an excellent book, look for my review this week.

I’m currently readingBefore I Go I’m loving this debut novel by Colleen Oakley and hope to finish soon.

I’m listening toAll You Could Ask For I’d been wanting to read this book by ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, so I picked up the audio.  It’s very good and Mike’s next book My Father’s Wives publishes later this month. Looking forward to it!!

Why is it readers, and especially book bloggers often discuss how sorry we are we aren’t reading faster, or want to read more etc? I’ve decided to give myself a break and stop that habit.  Sure I love to read, for a variety of reasons. I just want to stop putting myself down for the pace I’m reading or because I can’t read as many new or advance copy books as I’d like.  Life moves quickly, and while most of my family and friends will say books and reading are my passion, they aren’t my life.  So I believe I want to read all the books, but I’m going to be allowing myself to accept my reading pace as it is.

What’s next for me? I’m not really sure, feeling I might need a change of pace.  Here are some possibilities:

The Magician's LieThe Silent SisterA Fifty-Year Silence

I hope you’re reading something good, please comment and share, and have a wonderful week.

The Girl on the Train is on tap for me as well – I’m trying not to read too much about it before I get started! And – I’m interested in Greenberg’s book…I had no idea he was a writer as well!

I have The Girl on the Train on hold at the library. I can’t wait to get it, it sounds like the IT BOOK right now! I love the cover of The Magician’s Life. It’s so eye-catching!

Looking forward to The Girl on the Train. I’ve read Before I Go and liked it very much, and The Silent Sister was a 5 star read for me last year.

I loved The Girl on the Train too! Colleen Oakley came to Fiction Addiction last week – she has a 2 year old, a 4 year old, and is 7 months pregnant with twins. I don’t know how she found time to write a book!

That’s a great point, Anita. I think comparison is all too easy for us to do. It’s easy to feel we are falling behind when we aren’t posting as regularly as we would like….or as often as we think everyone else is!

Ha! I’ve been “reading” a book for nearly a week and am only page 20 because I’m obsessed with this game on my phone. I’ve given up worrying about the speed of my reading.
