It’s nearly noon, and I’ve been up for a couple of hours.  I’m sitting at the dining room table, coffee at my side, newspaper next to me partially read.  Kevin is outside mowing, and Nick is off working at McDonald’s.  Not sure if I mentioned his part time job.  He’s been there a couple of months now and while not a dream job a good place for a 17 year old.  It covers his gas and date night financial needs and he’s saving a lot.

It’s been a nice week!  We celebrated our 25th Anniversary on Tuesday, and Kevin made it a four day celebration starting last Saturday as he took me to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse for a lovely dinner.  Monday 25 pink roses were delivered.  On Tuesday he had our wedding cake topper re-created and gave me a couple of charms for my Pandora bracelet.  It’s hard to imagine that we’ve been married for over half of his life, and nearly half of mine.  We’re having a wonderful life!

I attended two book events at The Vero Beach Book Center.  Wednesday evening was spent with Beatriz Williams as we celebrated the paperback edition of  The Secret Life of Violet Grant, and she shared with everyone a bit about her next book, Tiny Little Thing, and the books beyond that.  Certainly some exciting books to look forward to!  Including a collaboration with the author I saw Friday evening.  Beatriz, Karen White and Lauren Willig  have written a book, The Forgotten Room, which will be published in January 2016, it sounds wonderful.  Karen White’s talk on Friday was so much fun, there was Prosecco and strawberries and a lively crowd while Karen discussed her latest book, The Sound of Glass, which I loved.  She is a humorous and entertaining speaker, also sharing her penchant for southern cities, how she works friends names into her books and I’m looking forward to reading many more of her books

Today we are heading to Orlando for a little shopping, looking for some foam to replace in cushions in our living room.  A few other stops for dog food and by Target are in our plans.

No big holiday plans, as I believe Kevin plans to go into his office tomorrow….a lot going on.

This week I’m finishing up physical therapy for my arm and heading for my doctor and hospital pre-admission visits for my June 1 surgery on my right knee.  I’m so thrilled to have this second knee replacement, I’m hopeful the results will be as positive as my first surgery.  I can’t wait to be free of this pain.  Recovery is a process, and I dread those first 10 days, but I know what waits on the other side.

Hoping you find time to remember those who served to make our country safe and free.  As always I think of my own dad. As always here’s to finding time with a good book!

Happy Anniversary! Sounds like you really celebrated in style. I loved A Hundred Summers and just bought The Secret Life of Violet Grant on my Mother Day shopping spree. Enjoy the rest if the long weekend.

Holy Cow!! Kevin IS a keeper! (one time my husband forgot our anniversary… it’s now a big family joke/story, which I love telling after almost 37 years.) I just read Karen White’s “Long time gone” and loved it.
