It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

January 9, 2017 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 14

Hi Again!  It’s another Monday and I’m joining Kathryn at BookDate to share what I’ve been reading and plan to read.  Stop by to see all kinds of books from other amazing bloggers.

Last week I finished both a book I was reading and one on audio:

My review for Everything You Want Me To Be is posted…and I loved it.  I won’t be reviewing Winter Stroll, it was a good holiday type audiobook.  I’ll wait until next Christmas to read the next installment.

I am currently reading the new Chris Bohjalian book, The Sleepwalker.  It publishes tomorrow, and I’m almost done and it is so very well written.  I can’t wait to talk to Chris about this book on Tuesday evening.  I would never spoil it for others but I will whisk him away from other ears to delve deeper into his mind.  To say the least I believe him to be an amazing storyteller.

I started listening to an older title I had purchased from audible.

Published in 2010, it’s been on my tbr list for a long time.  It’s a family story, and I’m enjoying it very much.  I’m waiting for more conflict to develop, but I’m interested in the tales of the children, a teen daughter and young teen twin sons, very different boys.  I need some audio suggestions!

As for what’s up next….well the Beatriz Williams new historical fiction, The Wicked City, has failed to appear.  I was queried by the publisher and it wasn’t mailed, and my digital request hasn’t been approved…a little irritating but hey I am going to buy the book anyway when I see Ms. Williams  at her event January 18.  I’ll be patient.  So the following is a photo montage of books I am planning to read in the near future.

I hope you’re reading something good!  Please share your current favorite reads, or left me know if you’ve read any of the books I’m looking forward to.

We have some overlapping books on our hope to read soon lists. I have the new Bohjalian book, but just haven’t gotten to it yet. Glad it’s good!

Oh my gosh – I just read Every Last One over the holidays and it was fantastic. 5 stars for me!
And – I’m thrilled to see you’re planning to read We Were the Lucky Ones – I read it and it’s a pretty mind-blowing story! Also – the author is a friend of mine from college 🙂

Sarah, you are the reason I re-evaluated both those books!! I had been seeing We Were the Lucky Ones and then saw your GR review and added it to my list, and was approved on Edelweiss…
      Thanks for your suggestions!!

I decided not to review the Winter series either… very enjoyable holiday reading, but not much to say about it. Every Last One was very good. On your ‘up soon’ pile, Commonwealth and Hilbilly Elegy were excellent!

I’m a huge Chris Bohjalian fan, too, but The Sleepwalker wasn’t my favorite. Loved Commonwealth! I’ve never read Anna Quindlen, but need to correct that oversight.

The Sleepwalker is definitely different. I enjoyed it a lot, and it made me rethink everything I knew about sleepwalking. He is a fantastic storyteller.

I understand your frustrations about missing books. I always wonder if I should say something but then never do because I have plenty of other books to read. So, I guess it is the publisher’s loss, right?

    Enjoy your next few reads!

These are all new to me. I’m currently reading my February review books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

My book club just selected Commonwealth as our next selection. I’m looking forward to it!
And I keep seeing Hillbilly Elegy which is making me curious.
