It’s Monday, January 23! What Are You Reading?

January 23, 2017 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 9

Happy Monday y’all!  I’m joining Kathryn of Book Date and many other bloggers sharing what we’ve been reading and what’s on our shelves to read.  Please visit, I’m sure you’ll find new books to read.

Books I’ve finished:

You can read my review of The Sleepwalker here.  I absolutely loved Every Last One, but it did rip my heart out too.  I listened to the audio and it was so well done.

Currently Reading:

I’m enjoying both of these, for completely different reasons.  Historical fiction set in the 1920’s and in the days of prohibition is such fun.  The stark reality of the lives of those from Appalachia, even those that believed they had escaped it’s grasp, is eye opening.  I’m so touched by the intimacy that J.D. Vance shares, I can already say grab this one…it’s so good!

Currently Listening:

Commonwealth was for book club, and I didn’t go to the meeting.  I am enjoying the audio, it’s a study of two families, how they are changed by a chance meeting of two adults, married to others.  The children grow up with summers together, joining forces.  It’s very good.

What’s up next:

I’m looking forward to all these, and honestly February and March are filled with new releases I’ve been waiting for.  I plan to also add in some of my older books, either those I’ve purchased or others sent to me.

I hope you’re having a wonderful month of reading.  I’d love to know if you’ve read any of the books I’m enjoying, and please share what you’re reading.

You have some great sounding books. I am still finding my way into The Wicked City, but I am sure as I get into it I will get hooked. I like the sound of Every Last One and Hillbilly Elegy. I have Always too in my line up very soon.

So much to comment on here: I loved Every Last One too – was my last 5 star book! And loved Hillbilly Elegy and Commonwealth – 2 of my favorites of 2016.

And – I’ve We Were the Lucky Ones – it’s really good and surprisingly fast-moving for a WWII book (also – the author is one of my friends from college). Hope you love it.

So many great books here, I don’t know which one to comment on first! I need to get caught up with Beatriz Wliiams’ books and keep hearing about We Were the Lucky Ones. I liked Every Last One, Hillbilly Elegy, and Commonwealth, too.

Oooh, you’ve got some wonderful reading to do! I’ve read The Sleepwalker, Commonwealth and Hillbilly Elegy (the audio version was phenomenal – Vance reads it), as well as My Not So Perfect Life; I enjoyed all of them! I’m looking forward to We Were the Lucky Ones (next up on my list) and I hope the Beatriz Williams is a good one; I’ve enjoyed some of her other novels!
