It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? June 12

June 12, 2017 It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 7

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

It’s been a mixed bag type of reading pace week.  I was loving the last book I finished and then I almost hit a wall of disinterest.  Drives me crazy.  I’ve decided that I’m honestly close to being impaired when I sign up for a Blog Tour  or specific date for a review.  I should just stop, because sometimes it’s a good book, but the wrong time etc. Pushing on!!

Finished since last week:

I absolutely loved Before We Were Yours, by Lisa Wingate.  Historical fiction, coming of age, family, scandal, it’s so very good.

I won’t be reviewing Into the Water, suffice to say it’s an Audible credit I wish I had back.  The book just dragged on, too many characters, too many drownings, confusion etc.

Currently Reading:

This cover is gorgeous, the author is brilliant and I like her as a creative, amazing person, but why is it with a looming deadline I am not reading this book?  In 4-5 days I’ve read less than 30 pages, just zero desire.  I’m forcing myself to sit down and become more engaged in it. I am liking the young teen storyline I’m in right now.  Full review will post June 20.

Currently Listening:

After reading numerous rave reviews on the print and audio versions of this book I decided to give it a whirl.  It’s not all about hockey, just like Friday Night Lights wasn’t just a football book.

What’s Up Next:

This is the question that puzzles me most!  The following books publish on June 27…all look great!

I hope you’ll share what you’re reading, and how you might handle books that you’re date specific committed to reading/reviewing and how you handle it when you’re not into it.  Happy reading y’all!!

I keep seeing RAVE reviews for BEFORE WE WERE YOURS. Glad to hear you loved it.

Not sure how I missed THE GYPSY MOTH SUMMER. I see nothing but high praise for it.

That is funny those books are all published on the same day. When that happens I review them a day ahead or a day or week later. Can’t do them on my blog all in one day. I like the reviewed book to take top priority. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing, Anita.

I’m looking forward to The Gypsy Moth Summer, but know exactly how you feel about reading it with a review deadline looming. That was happening to me ALL the time and is the main reason I stopped accepting review copies.

I understand completely with Into the Water but you can return it to Audible and get your credit back no questions asked. I’ve done it twice and it’s as easy as pie.

I’ve returned to Audible in the past, but I feel guilty because I did listen to the whole thing 🙁

I think I made it through 10 pages of Into the Water…haha! And I gave up early on Gypsy Moth Summer too.

I hear you on times when life is distracting and you just have trouble focusing on a book. I also gave up blog tours awhile back…didn’t like the “publish on a certain day requirements.”

I didn’t love Girl on the Train, so I wasn’t sure about the new one. I LOVED Beartown. And Before We Were Yours is definitely on my lsit.
